Concrete products – manufactured under tight controls in a plant – serve a variety of purposes and come in many shapes and sizes. They can be classified as precast, concrete pipe, concrete block and pavers, and structural/prestressed units.
Concrete pipe products generally are installed beneath the ground, and used for the conveyance of fluids such as stormwater and sewage. Larger precast pipe products can be used for short-span bridges and access ways. They can consist of box culverts, man holes, catch basins, curb inlets and utility boxes.
Precast concrete products are produced in a controlled manufacturing environment, which enables them to be produced with a high degree of quality and uniformity. They offer advantages during installation over other conventional cast-in-place construction methods.
Concrete block and paver products have been construction staples for decades, and are used for a variety of applications, such as building walls, pavements and exterior landscaping and built “hardscapes”.
